Privacy and cookies
Draft template under UK GDPR. This notice is pending legal review.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, a salted hash of your password, your plan and balance history.
- Payments: your deposit address and the blockchain transactions sent to it. Blockchain data is public by nature.
- Usage: pages viewed and actions taken on the site, to improve it. Visitors who are not signed in are counted with a daily-changing anonymous identifier; we do not store IP addresses.
- Emails: if you ask for race-morning emails or product news, your email and your consent.
Product analytics
We measure how the site is used so we can decide what to build and what to charge for: which pages and races are read, what people search for, where a locked Pro block stops them, how sign-up and payment flow, and why members cancel. This is our legitimate interest in running and improving the service.
- First-party only: the data goes to our own database. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no cross-site tracking; nothing is shared with or sold to anyone.
- No cookie for visitors who are not signed in: they are counted with an anonymous identifier made from a secret that changes every day, so we cannot follow anyone from one day to the next. We do not store IP addresses.
- What an event holds: the page, the action (for example “opened a verdict”), your plan, the device type and the site that sent you. Never your email, your IP address or the text of your feedback; search terms are cut to 100 characters.
- Experiments: we sometimes show two versions of a page to compare them; the version you saw is recorded with your events.
- Cancelling: when you switch off auto-renew we may ask one optional question about why. Your answer is used only to improve the product.
- Retention: raw events are kept for 13 months, then only aggregated counts remain. Deleting your account deletes your events, survey answers and experiment records.
Why we use it (lawful basis)
- To run your account and plan — performance of our contract with you.
- To keep the service secure and improve it — our legitimate interests.
- To send marketing emails — only with your consent, which you can withdraw with one click.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account is open. When you delete your account we remove your email and usage history; payment and ledger records are kept in anonymised form where the law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it or object to its use. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies
Essential cookies (always on): rv_session keeps you signed in; rv_theme remembers light or dark theme; rv_consent remembers your cookie choice.
Optional cookie (only with your OK): rv_ref remembers an invite link for 60 days, so the friend who invited you gets their reward.
